Minor Oral Surgery

Minor oral surgery refers to surgical procedures performed inside the patient’s mouth under local anaesthesia. The most common include surgical extractions of teeth, removal of cysts, soft tissue hyperplasia, placement of grafts, smoothening of bone spikes, gum adjustments before placing prosthetic restorations, etc. These procedures require specialised knowledge and training/ experience from the dentist in order to overcome the increased difficulty and potential complications as efficiently as possible.

Special cases of interest include the extraction of impacted or partially impacted wisdom teeth and the placement of dental implants. They are the most frequent in daily practice and require special management both during diagnosis and planning, as well as during execution. With these provosions and good cooperation from the patient the outcome is predictable and satisfactory in the vast majority of cases.
